Choosing a digital camera can be a very frustrating and time consuming experience with so many makes and models to choose from including Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Sony, Panasonic and others. Although the most significant feature when choosing a digital camera is the number of megapixels, which determines the quality of your photos, it is not the only consideration when choosing a digital camera. Items to take into consideration when choosing a camera are cost, resolution, exposure control, type of memory card, and batteries.

| Review by K. Kane (USA) 2009-12-08 I really like this camcorder. It was fairly simply to operate. The only complaint that I have is it was a little hard at first figuring out how to start the actual recording. (Of course that could have been avoided by reading the directions first.) Once I figured that out it has been very simple to operate. I saw the Canon DC 410 which is very ... Read more Canon DC320 1.07MP reviews | ||

| Review by G. Cardon (USA) 2009-12-24 Although the description says it has a USB port, it does not. That was the main reason I ordered it. Also the Sony 3" DVD+RW that are shown next to this camcorder for purchase are NOT compatible with this camcorder. I complained to Amazon about the incorrect description of this camcorder and I'm surprised they haven't changed the description. Can... Read more Canon DC410 DVD reviews | ||

| Review by Robert M. Dobson (north Georgia) 2009-10-11 It was time for me to upgrade my video equipment. At first I was looking to buy a HD video camera. I'm not a pro and didn't want to spend $100s or $1000s for new HD hardware and software. I chose the Canon DC420 because of the many positive reviews and I was not at all disappointed. The widescreen format looks professional quality on our HD TVs. Th... Read more Canon DC420 DVD reviews | ||

| Review by Sarah Haussermann (USA) 2009-10-02 What I like about the Canon DC420: fits in a coat pocket; makes DVDs (3 inch); has a built-in lens cap; has a color viewfinder (handy in the sun when LCD screens are useless); produces excellent video image quality, even at full zoom; has a sensitive microphone that clearly picks up quiet things like a rabbit clucking and things behind the lens lik... | Review by M. Gehret (Colorado Springs) 2009-08-03 The Canon DC310 Camcorder is really nice, smaller than I imagined and produces great zoom optical pictures (via Camera Mode -SD Card) and really impressive DVD's. People need to simply read the manual (which is only 88 pages) and is EZ to read, and understand. Set-up may take some adjusting but the manual spells it out. Some have complaine... Sony DCR-DVD610 DVD Handycam Camcorder With 40x Optical Zoom Reviewed by J. Kianese (Irwin, PA United States)
Satisfied Rating (8/10)
This DVD camcorder compact and cost exceeds the expectations of quality audio and video. With the ability to record directly to mini DVDs, which can be viewed in both Blu-ray DVD or Memory Stick for viewing on a PC, this camera is perfect for creating home movies in general. This is the first camcorder that I have since "become" classic days of VHS videos and the first thing I noticed was how transparent it stops and starts in the recording are available for reading. Its best feature is its excellent 40x optical zoom in May. The disadvantage is that the battery does not last very long. I thought it must be replaced or recharged shortly after about 30 minutes of recording. I bought a second battery for this, but I plan to buy at least another. Regardless, this is a Nice camera to capture those special moments of the family.

This is a great, easy to use camera. Many features, including 25x zoom, auto focus, and "Steadycam" feature, which excludes almost the movement of pictures when you are walking. Sony typical of excellence.

The recording format for digital camcorders is one of the most important features that concern a camcorder buyer. Several formats are currently available, including, DVD, MiniDV, MicroMV, Flash Drive, Digital 8, and Hard Disk.
There was a time when hard disk was referred to only in terms of computers. These days, it also applies to digital camcorders, and has become one of the best recording formats for several reasons.
These digital camcorders are compact and record in MPEG-2 video that are saved to a built-in internal hard disk drive within the camcorder. The video is saved to the internal drive within the camcorder and then downloaded to a computer and burnt onto to a DVD.
